Mimosa |ALBIZIA JULIBRISSIN|

\

Mimosa(ALBIZIA JULIBRISSIN) is an invasive species native to China where it is cherished for its herbal medicine. Also known as " Tree of Happiness" this delicate flower may remind you of something from Dr. Seuss but actually carries incredible benefits for the mind and spirit. In fact, this tree was given to those who needed a "spiritual uplift and cleansing." Its also known as the "sensitive" tree because when you grace the 'fern' like leaves it closes up.

It is used to stabilize the mood and create healthy stress response. Essentially aiding in anxiety, Irritability, Depression, Mood Swings, Insomnia, PTSD, and unresolved trauma are some of the mental ailments that can be soothed by this plant. I forage the cotton candy like flowers and sweet smelling bark for its ability to calm and lift one's spirit. The bark is considered an anchor stabilizing the spirit, as the flower lightens it.

Mimosa represents expansion with its silk flowers shooting outwards to the sky and increases tolerance, and grace towards change as you expand and conquer new territory. Its also uses for handling grief whether that is for a loved one or for a former self .

I made an alcohol infusion of Mimosa Flowers and Bark. The bark is mostly used ( I hadn't known this at the time). Initially when peeling the bark of this tree I noticed that it was sweet smelling just like the flowers. As said above, most flower essences=-because they represent the crown of the plant are going to work with the emotional and mental aspects of the soul. Because the bark is included, I believe this is a more stabilizing infusion than it would be with just the flowers.

Here is where I include scientific articles that have studied the therapeutic effects of Mimosa:
